CLFS 710 Experimental Biology

I found this course very beneficial both academically and as a teacher - the content was stimulating, thought provoking, and motivating. Brett was not only knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful, he was also realistic in his attitude about teaching public high school students - something we truly appreciate! Nick, and Hans were incredible assets to our class - they were helpful, patient, and assisted us with any need we had. It was and excellent experence and I would recommend it to anyone who intends to be a better biology teacher.

I found the course to be very helpful in learning new techniques for experimentation and analysis, and in applying those techniques to my teaching. I am already planning to use some of these techniques in my classroom I was definitely felt invigorated upon completing the Experimental Biology course!

The material was very challenging, and justly so. As well, the course was good because the material was challenging I would just like to say that the course was excellent. There was a lot of stress, a lot of pressure, a lot of hard work. In the end I was running to get everything done, and I did. Was there too much? Not at all. Would I want less? Nope; the course worked perfectly for me. The key is that I not only learned an enormous amount of material, but I will now apply that directly to my classes. I think this course was very well done and challenging. And I think that Dr. Kent and Nick Baer (the TA) deserve kudos.

I enjoyed the class and the material presented for my own educational advancement. The guest lecturers were also a great addition to the course, again for my own educational advancement. Overall a tiring, demanding and worthwhile 6 weeks.

CLFS 725: Statistics and Experimental Design(This is a 2 credit on line module of CLFS 710)

The material covered in this course was very valuable to my current position and teaching aspirations. I found the course to be a unique piece of the puzzle allowing me to better scrutinize research done by myself and others. A definite addition to my skills. The instructor was available when needed in this self paced, challenging course. I think one of the positive attributes of the on-line courses is that we are forced to think and research topics. That allows me (us) to really learn rather than merely memorize terms and concepts.

CLFS 725 was my first course in the MCLFS program. I found it to be very challenging and a good introduction on how to be successful in an online course. I feel I am very prepared for my next course. I enjoyed the interaction with Prof Kent.I learned a lot of things that I can immediately apply in my classroom - that is very exciting to me.

The addition of the Physiology CD was extremely helpful. The professors were excellent! As teachers ourselves, it was nice to be treated with a level of professionalism and respect by the professors.

Brett did a great job organizing this class. It was a difficult subject to teach on the web, and he did a great job.
